About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation that would significantly lower their energy bills and provide backup power in case of future power cuts. Marblanc Solar installed an 8kW solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €1,920 a year.

Background

This project took place on a property next to the Club de Golf La Cañada in Sotogrande, San Roque. The client, who uses the villa year-round, wanted to protect against rising energy costs and ensure the home would remain powered during occasional outages.

Marblanc Solar has completed numerous solar installations in Sotogrande, helping homeowners take advantage of the region’s excellent solar potential. After the client requested a free solar survey, our team conducted an on-site visit, used drone imaging to assess shading and roof angles, and prepared a detailed energy proposal.

Our solar survey engineer identified that the client’s annual electricity bill averaged around €3,450, or roughly €287 per month.

The client specifically requested that the most powerful panels be installed on roof areas hidden from view, while using blackout-style panels for visible roof faces to maintain a clean, uniform appearance. This preference guided our design choices and the final equipment selection.

The proposed solution combined 8x 595W JA Solar panels for maximum production and 5x 440W all-black JA Solar panels for visual integration. Together with a Huawei 8kW inverter, 7kW solar battery, and a 3kW essential load backup box, the system achieved both the desired savings and visual harmony, with a projected break-even period of seven to eight years.

Solution

Our team installed a compact 8kW solar energy system using a mix of high-output and all-black panels to meet both performance and aesthetic needs. The system was distributed across several roof areas to maximise production while keeping the more visible sections sleek and discreet.

The installation was completed efficiently within two days. All cables were hidden for a seamless finish, and the inverter and backup box were installed in a shaded, easily accessible location. The system’s essential load configuration ensures the property retains power during any grid interruptions.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

The client was delighted with both the discreet aesthetic and the smart hybrid performance of their new solar system.
