About the Project
The client had a property in Mijas. paid around €2,700/ year on electricity at their home in Calahonda in Mijas on the Costa del Sol. Marblanc Solar installed a 9.6kW system, which will cut the client’s annual electricity costs by 80%.
Background
The client requested a free solar survey from Marblanc Solar, for which we carried out a home visit, drone inspection, 3D shading analysis, savings estimation and custom proposal.
During the home visit, the client showed our survey engineer a recent electricity bill showing a cost of €2,700 in the last year – around €225 a month.
The results of our free solar survey showed the client could expect to save close to €2,270 a year on electricity. The estimation showed an average monthly of €42 (not including standing charges) and an overall payback period of under 4 ½ years.
Following our presentation of the proposal and some adjustments, the client went ahead with the installation.

Solution
We mounted 17 solar panels with a combined capacity of 9.605kW. This is a system that is enough to cut the client’s electricity costs by the 80% we aim to achieve for every installation.
There was one problem though: the client did not have sufficient roof space. We solved this by bringing in a steel fabricator to custom-build a pergola (with all correct permits and licenses) on one of the client’s sun terraces.
This provided the space necessary the fit the panels, while keeping them inconspicuous from ground level.
Following installation, we immediately compared solar feed-in tariff providers and selected the best virtual battery option for the client. Following legal registration of the installation, we moved them to a new deal.
We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks as part of our post-installation services. We then assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups for any future questions, and to schedule their first free annual check-ups.
Results
The client was satisfied with the service from Marblanc Solar, especially our ability to custom-design a pergola in order to provide sufficient roof space.
