The client wanted a solar installation to reduce ongoing energy bills and safeguard essential home systems against power outages. Marblanc Solar installed a 10kW solar energy system, which will reduce electricity costs by over €2,304 a year.
Background
This project was carried out in Cancelada, Estepona, where the client owns a villa used primarily as a holiday home. The objective was to achieve cost savings while also ensuring the home’s water circulation pumps would continue operating during any future blackouts.
Marblanc Solar has completed numerous solar installations in Estepona. After the client requested a free solar survey, our team visited the site, performed a drone analysis, studied shading and orientation, and prepared a tailored proposal.
Our solar survey engineer determined that the home’s annual energy bill was approximately €3,304—an average of €267 per month.
However, because the home required continuous water circulation from pumps located beneath the property, the power demand was steady year-round, even during unoccupied periods.
The client explained that during power cuts, these pumps would stop running, causing problems with water pressure and circulation. To prevent this, we included an essential load backup configuration capable of maintaining critical systems during outages.
The final proposal consisted of 18 JA Solar 595W panels, paired with a 10kW inverter, 5kW battery, and a 3.5kW essential load backup setup. This solution will cut bills by €192 a month – €2,304 a year – achieving an estimated break-even period of five to six years.

Solution
Our team installed an 18-panel 10kW solar system on the villa’s roof in Cancelada. The layout was designed to capture optimal sunlight throughout the day while maintaining a clean and symmetrical appearance across the roofline.
The installation was completed with all wiring concealed and the inverter placed in a ventilated, accessible location. The backup configuration was carefully set up to ensure that the villa’s water circulation pumps would continue operating automatically in the event of a grid failure.
As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.
We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

The client was very satisfied with the outcome, achieving significant savings and uninterrupted water circulation during blackouts.
