About the Project
The client had a property in Benahavís. was paying around €1,930/ year on electricity at their holiday home. Marblanc Solar installed a 5kW system, a 5kWh battery and a backup box which will protect their essential circuits even during an extended power cut.

Background
The client requested a free solar survey from Marblanc Solar, for which we carried out a home visit, drone inspection, 3D shading analysis, savings estimation and custom proposal.
During the home visit, the client showed our survey engineer a recent electricity bill. The client had paid around €1,930 in the last year – €160 a month – on electricity.
The property was a holiday home, and the owner wanted to reduce bills to the standing charges when not there.
The results of our free solar survey showed the client could expect to save €1,200 a year on electricity. The estimation showed the client would be able to cut the electricity costs to €0 (not including standing charges) during the months not at the property — and take advatange of a virtual battery to save credit and use it to reduce bills further during summer months.
Following our proposal presentation and some adjustments, the client proceeded with the installation.
Equipment Installed
- 9x JaSolar 565W solar panels
- 1x Huawei 6KTL solar inverter
- 1x Huawei 5kWh solar battery
- 1x Huawei backup box
Solution
We mounted 9 solar panels with a combined capacity of 5.085kW – a smaller system but enough to cut electricity costs to €0 and save up credit in a virtual battery when the owner was not at home.
The installation itself was unique as the client didn’t want the panels on roof, so our survey looked at installing on an outhouse by the pool, which was about 120m from the main house. We dug trenches in the garden to run the cables from the system to the house, and isolated and protected them by filling the trenches in.
Following installation, we immediately compared solar feed-in tariff providers and selected the best option for the client. Following legal registration of the installation, we moved them to a new virtual battery deal.
After the nationwide blackout, the client called asking for a battery and a backup box to protect their electrics during future power cuts. We were able to connect a 5kWh Huawei battery and backup box to their existing system, which will provide power to essential circuits during future powercuts — including at night-time.
Results
The client was satisfied with the service from Marblanc Solar, especially our ability to install the system on the outhouse and maintain the aesthetics of their villa. The system was able to be connected to a battery some weeks later without significant upgrades to other parts of the system.
