About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation to reduce energy bills and protect against local power cuts. Marblanc Solar installed a 14.5kW solar energy system, which will reduce electricity costs by over €5,000 a year.

Background

Our client decided to invest in solar energy to reduce high monthly bills and secure reliable power during outages.

Marblanc Solar has completed numerous solar installations in Sotogrande. After the client requested a free solar survey, our team carried out a full on-site visit with drone imaging, shading analysis, and a custom proposal showing the most efficient panel layout across his property.

Our solar survey engineer confirmed that the villa’s average annual bill was around €6,600 (approximately €550 per month).

Aesthetics were also a key consideration. The client preferred the sleek, uniform look of all-black panels over the slightly higher-yield 595W models we often install.

This choice reduced the potential power output – but our engineers designed a creative configuration to maintain strong system performance.

Given that the property lacked a single, continuous roof area, our team distributed the 33 all-black 440W panels across nine roof sections at various orientations. This complex design — with nine separate strings — allows for steady solar generation from morning through evening, ensuring consistent daily output and maximum efficiency.

Solution

Our team installed a 14.5kW system combining 33 high-efficiency all-black panels and a Huawei inverter with battery backup. The installation required careful coordination across nine roof sections to ensure optimal performance and symmetry with the villa’s architecture.

Despite the complex roof geometry, the system was completed efficiently without disruption to the household. All cabling was concealed to preserve aesthetics, and the full UPS backup box was integrated to provide seamless power during outages.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

The client was delighted with the system’s performance — achieving over 80% savings on his annual energy costs while gaining full protection against local power cuts.
