Why solar panels alone Can’t save you in a blackout
Did you know solar panels on their own can’t protect you from a power cut?
Until recently, there was no way around it.
But a new equipment release has helped Marblanc Solar protect hundreds of homes from power cuts.
When Spain’s blackout happened on 28 April 2025, we had many clients ask us to install this new piece of kit.
But that wasn’t all…
A handful of our clients didn’t notice the outage – their fridges, Wi-Fi, lights and TVs kept running without a flicker.
Want to know how that was possible?

The missing piece that keeps your power on
To keep your essentials running during a blackout, your system needs one missing piece:
A backup box.
It’s an automatic changeover/backup gateway that isolates your home from the grid and forms a mini-grid.
Daytime only?
A backup box can still keep you powered with panels alone while the sun is out.
But we recommend adding a solar battery so that if the cut hits at night, you still have power for lights, Wi-Fi, refrigeration and security.
