About the Project
The client wanted a solar installation to reduce their electricity bills and become less dependent on rising grid prices. Marblanc Solar installed a 6kW solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €1,404 a year.
Background
The homeowner in Riviera del Sol, Mijas wanted to reduce their energy bills and secure long-term savings with a reliable rooftop solar system.
Marblanc Solar already has many solar installations in Mijas, and this project began with our free solar survey, including an on-site visit, drone scan, shading analysis and tailored proposal.
During the assessment, our survey engineer confirmed the homeowner was spending approximately €1,620 per year on electricity.
The roof orientation was east–west, meaning production varies throughout the day. Using Pylon software, we simulated different layouts and confirmed that splitting the array across both slopes would ensure consistent generation from morning to evening with no mounting risks.
Based on expected performance, the system is projected to reduce electricity costs by approximately €1,404 per year, helping the homeowner move closer toward energy independence.
Equipment Installed
- 10 × 595W solar panels
- 1 × 6kW single-phase Huawei inverter
- 1 × 5kW Huawei battery
Solution
Our team installed a compact 6kW solar energy system split across the east- and west-facing roof sections to maximise production throughout the day, paired with a 5kW battery for night-time usage
One challenge was the roof layout. Other neighbouring installations used angled metal frame mounts positioned above the tiles. We advised against this approach due to several risks:
- increased wind uplift
- higher chance of leaks caused by tile penetrations
- reduced structural stability during storms
- long-term stress on the mounting points
By fixing panels flat and aligned to the tile surface, we achieved a safer, stronger, maintenance-free installation with a cleaner aesthetic finish.
As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.
We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.
Results
The client now benefits from significantly reduced monthly bills, a secure battery-supported system, and a safer long-term installation built without unnecessary mounting structures.
