About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation to reduce their rising electricity bills and ensure energy resilience during occasional blackouts in the area. Marblanc Solar installed a 9.5kW solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €2,220 a year.

Background

With increasing electricity costs and sporadic power cuts, the homeowner decided solar energy was a strategic long-term investment.

Marblanc Solar has many solar installations in Marbella, and like all of our projects, this began with a free solar survey, including a full site inspection, drone mapping, shading analysis, and a custom performance and payback report.

Our survey engineer confirmed the client’s electricity bill averaged €233 per month — approximately €2,796 annually.

After installing the new system, the proposal we provided will bring the client’s bills down to around €48 per month, or €576 annually, giving the homeowner an estimated yearly saving of €2,220.

The client requested a solution that provided blackout protection as well as long-term energy savings. They also wanted the installation to remain visually balanced across the roof sections and not appear cluttered.

To achieve this, we used Pylon design software to optimise the layout across six different roof surfaces. The final design includes high-output 595W panels and a SmartGuard backup system, resulting in a realistic payback period of 6–7 years and strong long-term value.

Equipment Installed

  • 16 × 595W solar panels
  • 1 × 10kW Huawei solar inverter
  • 1 × 7kW solar battery
  • SmartGuard backup box

Solution

Our team installed a carefully engineered 9.5kW system designed for maximum production across multiple roof areas. The 16 panels were positioned across six roof sections, ensuring the system received consistent sunlight throughout the day.

One of the main challenges was the non-uniform roof layout. To overcome this, we used Pylon simulation to test placement patterns and ensure optimal yield. All cabling was hidden, and each roof penetration was fully weatherproofed for long-term durability.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

The homeowner was pleased with both the projected yearly savings and the added peace of mind from blackout resilience. Despite the challenging roof structure, the final installation looks clean and well-balanced and is expected to deliver strong energy efficiency and long-term return on investment.
