About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation to reduce their electricity bills and have protection during the frequent power cuts that affect Mijas. Marblanc Solar installed a 12kW solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €2,388 a year.

Background

Located in the Urbanisation of El Faro in Mijas, this client’s property was facing recurring power cuts. The client therefore wanted a solar installation with backup capability.

Marblanc Solar has completed numerous solar installations in Mijas, and the client asked us for a free solar survey. During the survey, we carried out a full on-site visit, drone roof mapping, and shading analysis before preparing a customised proposal showing expected production and savings.

Our survey engineer confirmed that the client’s monthly electricity bill averaged €250 per month — around €3,000 per year.

With the proposed system, this was expected to reduce to approximately €51 per month (€612 per year), providing estimated annual savings of around €2,388.

The final proposal included 19 high-efficiency 595W panels, paired with a Huawei battery system and SmartGuard backup hardware. With a projected payback period of around seven years and long-term performance guarantees, the client felt confident in the long-term value of the installation.

Solution

Our team installed a 12kW system using 19 high-production 595W panels positioned across the most south-facing roof areas of the property. The battery and SmartGuard backup box were integrated to ensure seamless transition during grid outages, giving the client peace of mind during local power cuts.

All cabling was concealed, and tiles were protected using non-invasive anchoring methods to ensure the roof remained watertight while maintaining the property’s visual appearance.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

The client was pleased with the installation and the projected savings, but especially valued the added backup capability during power cuts — something increasingly important in the Mijas area. The system provides strong year-round performance and a fast return on investment, while the clean panel layout maintains the villa’s appearance.
