About the Project

The client was shocked to receive a monthly electricity bill for over €1,350 after moving into a new property in Nueva Andalucía, in Marbella. Marblanc Solar installed a 15kW system, which will cut the electricity costs by an expected €11,400 per year.

Background

The client had purchased a holiday villa in Nueva Andalucía, in Marbella. The villa used multiple AC units, a pool heater for an indoor pool, and had a home automation system. The first bill came in for over €1,350—and the client wanted a solar installation to reduce the monthly expenses.

Marblanc Solar has completed many solar installations in Marbella, and the client requested a free solar survey after a referral from his property developer. We set a date for a home visit, drone inspection, 3D shading analysis, savings estimation and custom proposal.

During the home visit, our survey engineer used cutting-edge solar software to design a system that would cut the electricity costs from €1,350 a month down to an average of €400 a month. 

The client requested a solar battery for maximum savings and asked for the all-black 420W Hyundai solar panels. He wanted all-black panels to preserve the properties’ aesthetics, as it had featured on Netflix’s Making it in Marbella series.

As all-black panels have a lower output than standard solar panels, we struggled to find enough roof space. We used our software to model the performance with one array mounted on a flat-roof section, and another on a steel frame in the property’s garden.

The client was happy with the 3D visualisation and performance modelling and proceeded with the installation.

Equipment Installed

  • 1x Huawei 10KTL solar inverter

Solution

Our team mounted 36 solar panels with a combined capacity of 15.1kW. We fit two solar arrays: one with fixed supports on a flat section of roof; and another on a steel frame in the garden.

We used a qualified engineer and architect to secure a building license, an environmental risk study and a design for a frame that will stand for 25 years or more. We then brought in a landscaper to fix the base.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery. The special electricity rates were 50% lower for electricity bought. fromthe grid, compared to the client’s previous tariff.

Usually, we monitor the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to suggest ways to optimise their appliance usage and set up plug timers. But in this case, the client had a home automation setup and wanted to use this to optimise his consumption.

Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions, and to schedule their first free annual check-up.

Results
