Best Deal Comparison
We take your bill, analyse your system’s export patterns, and run a comparison across the major and specialist providers to identify which virtual battery deal will earn you the most for your excess energy.
Exclusive Partner Rates
Our volume of clients has given us direct relationships with certain electricity providers – and access to virtual battery deals that aren’t available to homeowners approaching those companies directly. That means better compensation rates than you’ll find on the open market.
System Legalisation
If your system wasn’t installed by us and you can’t access a virtual battery deal, an unregistered installation is often the reason. We offer a system inspection and full legalisation service for homeowners across the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca.
Still sending excess solar energy back to the grid for nothing?
If your solar panels are generating more electricity than your home is using at any given moment, that excess energy flows back into the grid. But are you being paid for it?
A virtual battery is the deal you need with your electricity provider to make sure that excess energy is stored as credit – rather than wasted. It’s one of the most important steps you can take after a solar installation to maximise your savings.
Every month, Marblanc Solar receives calls from homeowners (not our clients) who realise their virtual battery was never set up. They don’t know which providers offer the best deals. They don’t know how to switch. And in the worst cases, we’ve discovered their system isn’t even legally registered in Spain.
Marblanc Solar offers a virtual battery switchover service for homeowners across the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca. It’s free for all our clients as part of our aftersales care package – but we also offer this service to homeowners who installed with another company. And if your system isn’t legally registered, we can help with that too.
Why most installers never help you with your virtual battery
Securing a virtual battery deal isn’t complicated. It’s straightforward as switching your electricity tariff – something most homeowners have done at least once before going solar. So why don’t more installers help their clients do it?
The honest answer is that most installers consider their job done the moment your system is switched on. Helping you secure a virtual battery means helping you achieve the savings you were promised – and that’s a level of involvement most companies simply aren’t interested in. Their priority is collecting payment and moving on.
At Marblanc Solar, we take a different view. Our aftersales care service exists because our responsibility doesn’t end until your system is delivering on its promised savings. Comparing virtual battery providers and switching you to the best available deal is one of the key ways we do that.
You may pay a little more for a Marblanc Solar installation than you would with a cheaper provider. That’s because we stay with you. We monitor your system, compare your options, and make sure the numbers you were shown during your free solar survey are the numbers you actually see on your electricity bill. Our 25-year workmanship warranty makes that a legal commitment – not a promise that disappears when the van leaves your driveway.
What Clients Say About Our Aftersales Care Services
Marblanc Solar is committed to delivering on its promises through our aftersales care. But don't just take our word for it.
Our Story
When Adam Millington founded Marblanc Solar out of our Marbella office in 2022, he'd already spent years working as a qualified electrician on the Costa del Sol. He'd seen first-hand what happened when solar systems were sold by people who didn't understand electricity. Undersized arrays. Incorrect inverter configurations. Customers who'd been promised 70% savings and were still opening €200 electricity bills.
The problem wasn't the technology. Solar works. The problem was the process – and the people delivering it.
Our mission
Adam realised the need to build a company where qualified professionals handle every stage. Not salespeople. Not local handymen. Not subcontractors brought in from wherever was cheapest that week. Qualified electricians and certified survey engineers – in-house, on every job.
In 2024, certified survey engineer Roman Mitchell joined as co-owner. He brought with him a rigorous approach to system design and a commitment to solar proposals that can deliver on their promises. Together, they developed the Free Solar Survey: a process that uses precision drone scans, local solar radiation data, and the world's leading solar design software to produce a system design specific to your property.

Specialist deals for homeowners with solar
Marblanc Solar regularly runs provider comparisons for our clients to make sure they’re on the best available virtual battery deal. The major electricity companies – Endesa, Iberdrola, and newer providers like Octopus Energy – each offer their own virtual battery arrangements. The best deal for your home depends on your usage patterns, your system size, and how much excess energy you’re generating.
We run the comparison and handle the switchover. But beyond the standard market, Marblanc Solar’s volume of clients has given us access to special arrangements with certain providers – deals that aren’t available to homeowners approaching those companies directly. That means we can sometimes lock clients into lower rates or better compensation for electricity exported to the grid. Get in touch for more information on what’s currently available.

Is a virtual battery better than a physical solar battery?
They serve different purposes, and our honest recommendation is that a physical solar battery is always the better long-term investment where budget allows.
Here’s why.
With a physical battery, every 1 kWh of excess energy you store gives you 1 kWh back when you need it. With a virtual battery, because of the difference between the rate you pay for electricity and the rate you’re compensated for exports, every 1 kWh you put in effectively gives you back around 0.5 kWh in value.
That said, a virtual battery deal is something every solar homeowner in Spain should have in place – it’s far better than wasting your excess energy entirely. For homeowners who aren’t yet ready to invest in a physical battery, it’s an essential part of making your system work as hard as possible. At Marblanc Solar, we’ll always give you an honest comparison of both options as part of your free solar survey.
How much will I be paid for electricity I export to the grid?
Compensation rates for exported electricity vary by provider and by the specific deal you’re on – which is exactly why comparing providers matters. As a general indication, while you might pay around 0.12 €/kWh for electricity you draw from the grid, you may only receive around 0.06 €/kWh for electricity you export. It’s not a like-for-like exchange, but it’s significantly better than sending your excess energy back for nothing. Marblanc Solar runs comparisons across providers – including exclusive arrangements we’ve secured for our clients – to make sure you’re getting the best available rate for your exported electricity. How does a virtual battery work?
A virtual battery is a service offered by electricity providers in Spain that allows you to store the excess energy your solar panels generate as credit on the grid – rather than in a physical battery at home. Throughout the day, your panels will often produce more electricity than your home is using at that moment. Without a virtual battery arrangement, that excess flows back into the grid and is largely wasted. With one in place, it’s stored as credit against your account. When you later draw power from the grid – in the evening, at night, or on a cloudy day – you draw down from that credit rather than paying for electricity at the standard rate. If your panels generate enough excess across the month, your bill could effectively reach zero – even without a physical battery installed.
What to expect when you get a free solar survey from Marblanc Solar
Marblanc Solar offers all interested clients a Free Solar Survey.
Once we receive your details, a qualified survey engineer from our team will arrange a home visit at a convenient time. We then follow a series of steps to design a high-quality system that delivers on its promises.
1
Book Your Free Solar Survey
A qualified electrician or survey engineer visits your property, conducts a precision drone scan of your roof, checks your intake and analyses your actual electricity usage. There's also a thorough Q&A process.
2
We Build Your Proposals
Your survey engineer models your roof geometry, shading, orientation and seasonal solar variation using the world's leading solar design software. We size the system to hit your savings targets, determine the optimal panel layout, and produce a fully itemised proposal.
3
Proposal Presentation
Your survey engineer contacts you within 48 hours for a second site visit to present the proposal. You can ask for instant adjustments on the spot – adding or removing panels, switching equipment or modelling a battery. Everything updates in real time.
4
Decide With Confidence
Take as long as you need. No pushy follow-up, no obligation to proceed. Most clients leave their presentation with two clear options and everything they need to make the right decision – you can keep the drone footage too!
