Solar Installations

It is possible to eliminate your electricity costs if your system is large enough, so there is no fixed limit to how much you can save. Please note, however, that you will still have monthly costs which are the mandatory standing charges, taxes and fixed fees – these vary depending on your provider.

For more information, read our solar guide on sizing your solar energy system to achieve an 80% reduction in electricity bills.

The payback period can range from four to seven years, depending on your available roof space and system size. Given that solar panels typically last for around 25 years, there is significant potential for long-term profit.

The answer is yes – but it depends on how your system is sized.

The Costa del Sol enjoys over 320 days of sunshine each year. On lightly cloudy days, panels can still operate at 80–85% efficiency. Even under heavy overcast, efficiency is typically around 30–40%.

For more information, read our solar guide on sizing your solar energy system to achieve an annual reduction of 80% in electricity bills.

Once you sign, we can usually complete the installation within 30 days, scheduling the work for a date that suits you. The installation itself typically takes up to three days. Your electricity supply is only interrupted briefly — usually for the final hour of work — so your home will function normally during most of the process.

As a rule of thumb for standard installations ranging from 5-15kW, budget around €1,000 per kilowatt of capacity, plus a flat €1,000 on top. For example, a 5 kW system could cost about €6,000 (€5,000 for capacity + €1,000 base).

Specific costs vary significantly depending on your requirements, equipment, and property. You can read more in our post about the itemised costs of solar panels in Spain.

We provide three years of free aftercare. After that, ongoing maintenance costs €200 per year, which includes cleaning the panels, system checks, and continuous monitoring through our app. We also offer access to one of our electricians at a discounted rate.

You don’t sell your excess energy directly. Instead, you receive credit in the “virtual battery” included in most solar electricity deals in Spain. Any unused electricity — when your battery is full or you don’t have one — feeds back into the grid, and you receive credit to offset your consumption in future bills.

For more information, visit our virtual battery page.

Our systems are covered by manufacturer warranties of up to 25 years. We also add on our own 25-year workmanship warranty which covers the installation itself. While we can’t guarantee performance, you’ll receive a detailed proposal including expected performance figures – and you’ll have direct access us via a dedicated WhatsApp channel to ask us any questions about improving performance or reducing your consumption.

For more information, visit our post-installation services page.

No two solar systems are alike. For this reason, Marblanc Solar does not believe in sending a quote before seeing your property – from our experience, this only leads to false promises and badly managed expectations.

This is why we begin every proposal with a Free Solar Survey to determine your needs and design a system tailored to your property.

Installation Costs

Yes, you need a permit to install solar panels in Spain.

The permit is known as the ICIO (Impuesto de Construcciones, Instalaciones y Obras). It’s a municipal license and requires a payment to your local town hall.

The ICIO license is required in order to register your system on the boletín, which is essential for legalizing the installation and securing a solar feed-in tariff or virtual battery deal with your electricity provider. Additionally, having a legalised system is crucial for accessing solar incentives such as grants, income tax rebates, and property tax reductions.

Some town halls in Spain have applied a 95% reduction to the ICIO tax to encourage solar panel installations.

To find out if your local town hall offers this reduction, visit our post on solar incentives in Spain.
