The client wanted to reduce the running costs of their Marbella villa significantly – but the property’s mature, densely planted grounds presented a real shading challenge. Marblanc Solar designed a 6kW system with individual power optimisers on every panel, ensuring maximum output despite the tree cover on multiple elevations. The result is a 94% reduction in electricity costs, saving the client over €1,281 a year.

Background

High electricity bills are a familiar pressure for villa owners in Marbella – and for this client, the motivation to act was straightforward: reduce monthly costs, take control of energy use, and make the most of the Andalusian sun. Like many homeowners in the area, they wanted a system that would perform consistently, not just on clear days when shading wasn’t an issue.

Our installations in Marbella show just how much is achievable on properties of this type. Before any proposal was drawn up, we arranged a free solar survey – an on-site visit combined with drone analysis, a shading assessment, and a full energy simulation tailored to the property. The survey gave us a clear picture of what the roof could realistically deliver and what the system would need to handle.

What became clear early on was that the site’s mature tree cover – pressing in from the west and north-west, with additional subtropical planting close to the south elevation – would create intermittent shading across the roof throughout the day. Power optimisers were central to the proposal from the outset. As with our solar installation in Nueva Andalucía, Marbella, where the client similarly needed maximum energy production from a villa roof with shading constraints, fitting an optimiser to every panel ensures each one performs independently – so a shadow falling across one section of the array doesn’t pull down output across the rest. The proposal modelled a projected saving of €1,281.14 per year, reducing the average monthly bill from €113.64 to €6.88.

Equipment Installed

Solution

Our installation team mounted all 10 panels in a clean 2×5 grid across the main south-west facing roof pitch – a layout that keeps the array tight, well-proportioned against the terracotta tiles, and positioned to capture the strongest solar window of the day. With a Huawei SUN2000-600W-P2 optimiser fitted to each panel individually, the system is engineered to extract maximum output regardless of which sections of the roof fall into shade at any given point. The Huawei SUN2000-6K-MAP0 three-phase inverter ties the array together, handling conversion at 98.6% maximum efficiency.

All cabling was routed cleanly out of sight, with conduits and terminations concealed within the roof structure to maintain the clean lines of the villa exterior. The Sunfer Microrail mounting system was fixed using high-grade chemical resin and waterproof membranes, preserving the integrity of the tiled roof and ensuring a weather-resistant finish.

Following installation, our team registered a feed-in tariff with a virtual battery, so any surplus energy generated feeds back into the grid as credit. Over the following two weeks we monitored daily electricity usage, adjusted plug timers to align with peak solar production, and set up the Huawei FusionSolar app so the client can track generation in real time. The client was also added to our Monday–Sunday WhatsApp group for ongoing aftersales care.

Results

The 6kW system is projected to save this Marbella villa owner €1,281.14 a year - cutting their average monthly bill from €113.64 down to €6.88, a reduction of 94%. That comfortably exceeds the Marblanc 80% promise. With a discounted payback period of 6–7 years, a total ROI of 300%, and an NPV of €25,694.48 over 20 years, the financial case is clear. The system is installed, commissioned, and producing - and the client now has individual panel-level monitoring to track every watt it generates.
