13 Solar Panels in Estepona, Málaga

Marblanc Solar cut a villa owner's electricity bills by €1,925 a year with a 7.8kW system and 5kWh battery storage installed in Estepona, Málaga.

About the Project

Marblanc Solar installed a 7.8kW solar system with 5kWh battery storage at a villa in Estepona, Málaga. The system comprises 13 high-output panels across two roof orientations, paired with a Huawei hybrid inverter and battery, cutting the client’s electricity costs by €1,925.75 per year.

Background

With an annual electricity bill of €3,355.70, the client was paying close to €280 a month – a figure that had become difficult to justify given Estepona’s solar potential. Energy independence and a meaningful reduction in monthly outgoings were the priorities from the outset.

After researching installations in Estepona, the client contacted Marblanc Solar and arranged a free solar survey. The on-site visit included a drone analysis of the roof, a shading assessment of the surrounding treeline, and a detailed energy simulation using our Pylon software to model production across both roof planes.

The survey identified the central challenge: the villa’s roof offered no true south-facing aspect. One section faces south-east, the other north-west – meaning the system would need to be designed around split orientations rather than a single optimised plane. Our survey engineer Alan Manning modelled both faces carefully to ensure the panel placement and inverter configuration would extract the maximum available yield from each.

Battery storage was built into the proposal from the start. As with our Huawei battery installation in El Pariseo, Estepona, adding a 5kWh Huawei LUNA2000 unit allows the client to draw on stored solar energy into the evening rather than switching immediately to the grid after sunset. The Pylon simulation projected annual savings of €1,925.75, reducing the monthly bill from €279.64 to €119.16 – a 57% reduction.

Solution

Our installation team distributed the 13 panels across the two available roof planes – the larger array on the south-east-facing pitch, the remainder on the north-west section – configuring the Huawei SUN2000-8K-LC0 hybrid inverter to manage the differing orientations efficiently. Mounting the panels across two faces with distinct pitch angles required careful structural planning to ensure consistent fixing depth and load distribution across both sections. The drone imagery from the survey informed the final layout, with panel positioning adjusted to avoid the shadow cast by the chimney stack and surrounding mature trees at different points in the day.

All DC and AC cabling was fully concealed within the roof structure and routed cleanly to the inverter and battery unit inside the property. Roof penetrations were sealed with high-grade waterproof membranes and chemical resin to ensure a weather-resistant, long-term finish compatible with the villa’s rendered roof surfaces.

Following installation, our aftersales care services began immediately. The feed-in tariff was registered and a virtual battery set up to credit any surplus exported to the grid. Over the first two weeks, our team monitored daily consumption data, adjusted plug timer schedules to align with peak solar hours, and configured the Huawei FusionSolar app so the client could track live generation and battery status. The client was also added to our Monday–Sunday WhatsApp aftercare group for ongoing support.

Results

The 7.8kW system is projected to save the client €1,925.75 per year, reducing their monthly electricity bill from €279.64 to €119.16 - a 57% reduction. While this falls just below the Marblanc 80% threshold, the split-orientation roof limited the maximum achievable yield, and the proposal was sized to reflect what the site could realistically deliver rather than an optimistic figure. The discounted payback period is 6–7 years, with a 20-year ROI of 295% and an NPV of €40,450. Combined solar and battery self-consumption covers 55% of the property's energy needs, with the battery extending usable generation well into the evening hours.
