The result: an electricity bill reduced to a monthly credit balance, with projected annual savings of €2,441.64.

Background

The client’s annual electricity spend was €2,420 – above average for a residential property – and the goal was straightforward: reduce that bill as far as possible and move toward energy independence at their rural villa in Pedreguer.

The roof layout was the defining factor in how the system was designed. With panels across two orientations and real shading risk on the eastern section from surrounding woodland, a standard string inverter configuration would have allowed the weakest-performing panels to drag down the output of the entire array. Our team specified 18 × Huawei SUN2000-600W-P2 power optimisers – one per panel – so that each panel operates independently, shading on one section cannot affect the rest of the array, and production from both roof planes is maximised throughout the day. The proposal modelled an annual saving of €2,441.64, reducing the monthly bill from €201.67 to a credit balance.

Equipment Installed

Solution

Our installation team mounted the panels across both roof sections of the villa – the larger bank on the south-west-facing pitch of the main building, and a smaller group on the east-facing section of the rear wing. Each of the 18 panels was connected to its own Huawei power optimiser, isolating individual panel performance and ensuring that shading from the mature tree line to the east could not suppress output across the wider array. The Huawei SUN2000-10K-LC0 inverter was configured to receive the optimised DC input from both roof planes, running the full 10.8kWp system through a single-phase connection.

All DC and AC cabling was fully concealed within the roof structure, routed cleanly to the inverter position and installed to current REBT/IEC electrical standards. The Sunfer Microrail mounting system was fixed using high-grade chemical resin and waterproof membranes, preserving the integrity of the traditional terracotta tiled roof and ensuring a weather-resistant, long-term finish throughout.

Following the handover, we secured a feed-in tariff with a virtual battery so that surplus energy exported to the grid is credited against future bills. Our team monitored the system daily for the first two weeks – tracking consumption patterns, fine-tuning plug timer schedules to align with peak solar hours, and setting up the Huawei FusionSolar app for the client. The property was also added to our Monday–Sunday WhatsApp aftersales care group, giving the client direct access to the team whenever needed.

Results

The 10.8kWp system is projected to generate 18,810kWh annually, eliminating the client's electricity bill entirely and moving them into credit - an average monthly balance of €1.80 CR against a previous bill of €201.67. Annual savings are projected at €2,441.64, representing a 101% reduction in electricity costs. That comfortably exceeds Marblanc's 80% promise. The discounted payback period is 5–6 years, with a total ROI of 398% and an NPV of €52,341.41 over 20 years.
