We reduced a client's electricity bills by €826 a year after installing 6 solar panels on a flat-roofed apartment in Estepona, Málaga.
Marblanc Solar installed a 3.6kWp solar system on a flat-roofed apartment in Estepona, Málaga, cutting the client’s annual electricity bill by €826.45. The 6-panel system includes a Huawei SmartGuard unit to keep key circuits protected during any future power outages.
With an annual electricity bill of €2,566.10, the client wanted a reliable way to reduce their energy costs – and to add a layer of protection against outages that could disrupt essential circuits in the home.
We’ve carried out a number of installations in Estepona over the years, and each one begins the same way: a free solar survey at the property. For this job, that meant an on-site visit, a drone assessment of the rooftop, shading analysis, and a detailed system simulation to model the best-performing configuration for this specific building.
Arturo Perea Bigwood led the energy assessment, which took into account:
The defining feature of this job was the flat roof itself. Unlike a pitched-roof villa where panels follow the existing surface, a flat installation requires the mounting system to create the optimal angle from scratch – adding complexity to both the design and the installation. As with our 18-panel installation in Cancelada, Estepona, the client also wanted confidence that essential circuits would keep running during any future blackout – a requirement that shaped the proposal from the outset. The system was sized to bring the average monthly bill down from €213.84 to €144.97, with projected annual savings of €826.45.
Our team installed all 6 panels on the flat roof terrace, using the Sunfer Microrail system to mount each panel at the correct tilt angle for maximum solar yield. With no pitched surface to work with, precise positioning was essential – the team worked around existing rooftop equipment to make the most of the available space while ensuring the array faced the optimal direction for generation throughout the day.
All cabling was fully concealed and routed cleanly within the existing roof structure, with UV-rated DC and AC cables, surge protection, and isolators installed throughout. High-grade waterproof membranes and sealing compounds were applied at every fixing point to preserve the integrity of the flat roof and ensure a weather-resistant, long-term finish.
After handover, we secured the client’s feed-in tariff with a virtual battery to maximise the value of any surplus energy exported to the grid. Our team then monitored daily electricity usage for the first two weeks – adjusting plug timer settings and walking the client through the Huawei FusionSolar app so they could track generation and consumption in real time. The client was also added to our Monday–Sunday WhatsApp aftersales care group for ongoing support.
Our Free Solar Survey includes: home visit, drone inspection, 3D performance model, two custom proposals and break-even estimations.
