6 Solar Panels in Mijas, Málaga

We reduced a client's electricity bills by €1,073 a year after installing 6 solar panels with 5kWh battery storage on a terrace roof villa in Mijas, Málaga.

About the Project

Marblanc Solar installed a 3.6kW solar system with 5kWh battery storage on a terrace roof property in Mijas, Málaga, cutting the client’s electricity costs by €1,073.05 a year. The system brings the average monthly bill down from €139.74 to €50.32 – a 64% reduction – with the battery extending self-consumption from 40% to 66% by storing surplus solar energy for use into the evening.

Background

The client’s electricity bills were running at €139.74 a month – €1,676.90 a year – and they wanted a reliable way to reduce that spend while making better use of the strong solar resource their Mijas property enjoys. Evening energy use was a key consideration: without storage, a solar-only system would leave them drawing from the grid once generation dropped off in the late afternoon.

We carry out installations across Mijas and the wider Costa del Sol, and the client got in touch to arrange a free solar survey. Our survey engineer visited the property, captured drone footage of the roof terrace, modelled shading from the surrounding buildings, and ran a detailed energy assessment to size the system correctly.

Miguel Ángel Ruiz Zapardiel led the assessment, which took into account:

Battery storage was central to the proposal rather than an optional add-on. As with our battery installation in El Faro, Mijas, the client wanted more than daytime bill reduction – they needed a system that would keep working after the sun went down. A Huawei LUNA2000-5-S0 5kWh unit was built into the design from the start, allowing stored solar energy to cover evening demand and reduce grid dependency across the full day. The proposal projected annual savings of €1,073.05, with the average monthly bill falling to €50.32.

Equipment Installed

Solution

Our team installed the 6 panels on the client’s flat terrace roof, using the Sunfer Microrail system to mount the panels at the correct tilt angle for maximum solar yield. The terrace required careful positioning to work around existing equipment – AC units and a satellite dish shared the roof space – and the panel layout was configured to avoid inter-row shading while making full use of the available area. The Huawei SUN2000-3.68KTL-L1 inverter and LUNA2000-5-S0 battery were installed internally, with the system wired and integrated with the property’s existing electrical setup.

All cabling was routed cleanly out of sight, with UV and fire-rated conduit used throughout. The roof penetrations were sealed using high-grade waterproof membranes and chemical resin compounds, preserving the integrity of the terrace structure and ensuring a fully weather-resistant finish.

Following installation, we secured the client’s feed-in tariff with a virtual battery to maximise the return on any surplus energy exported to the grid. Our team then monitored the system daily for two weeks – tracking electricity usage, adjusting plug timer settings, and ensuring the Huawei FusionSolar app was set up and working correctly. The client was also added to our Monday–Sunday WhatsApp aftersales care group for ongoing support.

Results

The system is projected to save the client €1,073.05 a year on electricity in Mijas, Málaga, bringing the average monthly bill from €139.74 down to €50.32 - a 64% reduction. The discounted payback period is 8–9 years, with a 20-year ROI of 190% and an NPV of €20,234.68. The 5kWh battery pushes total self-consumption to 66%, meaning the client draws from stored solar energy through the evening rather than switching to the grid when generation stops. The 64% bill reduction falls short of the Marblanc 80% promise - this reflects the client's consumption profile and the constraints of the terrace roof, which limited the system to 6 panels - but the combination of a correctly sized array and integrated battery storage delivers a strong, predictable return from day one.
