Solar Installation: 18 Solar Panels in Capanes del Golf, Benahavís

We cut a client's electricity costs by over €2,110 a year after installing 18 solar panels on a contemporary villa in Capanes del Golf, Benahavís, Málaga.

About the Project

A client in Capanes del Golf, Benahavís wanted to cut the high electricity bills at their large contemporary villa. Marblanc Solar installed a 10.8kWp solar system, projected to reduce their electricity costs by over €2,110 a year.

Background

The client’s goal was straightforward: bring down the running costs of a large, energy-hungry modern home. With a substantial annual electricity spend, they wanted a system that would generate as much of their own power as possible and take a meaningful bite out of the bill.

Marblanc Solar has completed many installations in Benahavís and right across Málaga province. As with every project, this one began with our free solar survey – an on-site visit, a detailed drone survey of the roof, a shading scan to map sun exposure across the day, and full energy modelling feeding into a tailored proposal.

The survey confirmed an annual electricity spend of €4,480.50, high but typical of a large villa of this kind. Our survey engineer Enrique Ferreiro assessed how best to meet that demand from the villa’s expansive flat roof.

Our energy assessment took into account:

With demand this high, the priority was to extract maximum output from the available roof rather than simply cover it in panels. As with our 41-panel installation in nearby Nueva Atalaya, where the owners of a similarly large villa also wanted to cover heavy consumption, the proposal was built around getting the most from every panel. Our energy modelling projected an annual saving of €2,110.53, cutting the average monthly bill from €373.38 to around €197.50.

Solution

Our team installed the eighteen 600W panels across the villa’s flat main roof. Although the original design placed the panels flush and close together, our installers instead mounted them in five separate angled arrays. On a flat roof, tilting the panels lets them capture more direct sunlight and shed rainwater and dust more effectively, so an angled layout generates more energy than a flat-laid one – a change made on site to draw extra yield from the same eighteen modules.

Throughout the work, all DC and AC cabling was routed cleanly out of sight for a tidy finish, and the Sunfer Microrail structure was fixed to preserve the integrity of the flat roof and keep it fully weatherproof.

Our support continued well beyond commissioning. We monitored the household’s electricity use every day for two weeks, fine-tuning appliance timing with plug timers and the solar app, and secured an exclusive feed-in tariff with a virtual battery so surplus generation is credited rather than lost. The client was then added to one of our Monday-to-Sunday WhatsApp aftersales care groups, on hand for any questions.

Results

The system will save the client in Capanes del Golf around €2,110 a year, cutting the average monthly bill from €373.38 to about €197.50 – a 47% reduction – and paying for itself within five to six years. This sits below the 80%-plus reduction Marblanc Solar aims for on most installations, and the reason is straightforward: this is a large, high-consumption home with an annual spend of over €4,480, so an 18-panel array offsets a substantial share of the bill without covering it entirely. The Huawei inverter is a battery-ready hybrid unit, leaving clear headroom to add storage and push savings higher in future should the client wish to. As it stands, the installation makes a strong dent in a heavy electricity bill while delivering a healthy return.
