About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation to reduce their high electricity bills. Marblanc Solar installed a 10.8kWp solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €2,472 a year.

Background

This client in Nueva Andalucia, Marbella, was looking for a way to significantly reduce their consistently high electricity bills and gain more energy independence.

Marblanc Solar has completed many installations in Marbella, so the client booked our popular free solar survey. This process includes an on-site visit, a comprehensive drone analysis of the property, a detailed shading scan, and the creation of a bespoke proposal.

During the visit, our survey engineer, Alan Manning, learned that the client was spending over €9,300 a year on electricity.

The client’s primary request was an effective system, but they also had specific aesthetic concerns about the panel placement on their villa’s roof. Using our Pylon software, we simulated the system’s potential production and calculated the optimal placement that balanced high energy generation with the client’s visual preferences.

Our final proposal demonstrated how the system would reduce their electricity bills by over €2,472 a year, lowering their average monthly cost from around €780 to just €574.

Solution

Our team installed the 10.8kWp system, comprising 18 high-efficiency solar panels, on the main roof area of the villa.

Our installers ensured all cabling was hidden neatly to maintain the property’s aesthetics, protected the roof structure during the process, and secured the solar panels to withstand extreme weather. The entire installation was completed faster than the client expected.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We then monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

The final installation is projected to save the client over €2,472 annually, with an expected break-even point in just 6-7 years. While our initial proposal was designed to cut the client's bills by over 80%, the client requested an adjusted layout due to specific aesthetic concerns for their villa's roofline. This final system successfully balances substantial energy savings with the client's desired visual outcome.
