About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation to significantly reduce their monthly electricity bills. Marblanc Solar installed a 13.09kW solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €2,970 a year.

Background

The client decided to switch to renewable energy for their villa in Los Pinares, Torremolinos, as a way to gain independence from rising utility costs.

Marblanc Solar has many installations in Torremolinos. We began the process with our free solar survey, which includes an on-site visit, drone analysis, a shading scan, and a detailed proposal.

Our survey engineer discovered that the client was spending €4,500 on electricity a year.

To address the client’s high energy consumption, we used our Pylon software to simulate production and calculate the best placement for the panels, ensuring the large array would maximise yield despite the specific roof layout of the villa.

Our proposal is expected to reduce the electricity bills by €2,970 a year. Before solar, the average monthly bill was €375, which has now dropped to a new monthly bill of €127.08.

Solution

Our team installed a 13.09kW system across the primary roof areas of the villa.

To ensure a high-quality finish, we hid all cabling neatly, protected the roof structure, secured the solar panels to withstand extreme weather, and completed the whole installation faster than the client expected.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We then monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday–Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

This installation resulted in an annual saving of €2,970 and a rapid break-even period of 4–5 years. By comparing the new monthly bill of €127.08 to the original €375, the client has achieved a 66% reduction in costs. Usually at Marblanc Solar, we aim to cut the client's electricity bills by 80% – but in this case the client has high daytime energy demands and chose not to install a physical battery storage system at this stage, relying instead on the virtual battery for excess production.
