About the Project

The client wanted a solar installation to reduce their electricity bills and protect their villa during local blackouts. Marblanc Solar installed a 7.7kW solar energy system, which will also reduce electricity costs by over €1,824 a year.

Background

Located in Alhaurin el Grande, this homeowner wanted a reliable system that would significantly reduce their energy bills while ensuring blackout protection throughout the year.

Marblanc Solar already has many solar installations in Alhaurin el Grande, and like every project, this began with our free solar survey. The survey included a site visit, drone roof scan, shading analysis and a detailed personalised proposal showing projected generation and long-term savings.

Our survey engineer confirmed that the client’s annual energy cost was approximately €2,040 (€170/month).

After installation, the projected annual cost dropped to around €216 (€18/month), giving a saving of roughly €1,824 per year.

The client requested blackout capability and wanted a system that could operate independently when grid power is unavailable. The layout needed careful consideration because part of the roof receives shading from a nearby tree at certain times of the day.

To maximise efficiency and visibility of panel performance, we recommended solar optimisers. This approach allows the system to monitor panel output individually in the app, helping the homeowner clearly see which panels operate at full capacity and which are shaded — a far better option than separate strings in this scenario.

Solution

Our team installed a 7.7kW solar system using 13 high-efficiency 595W panels across the available roof area. The panels were paired with optimisers to account for shading and provide real-time monitoring through the app.

The key installation challenge was the partial shading from nearby trees and roof orientation. By using optimisers and carefully planning panel placement, we ensured consistent energy production while giving the client detailed visibility of system behaviour. All cabling was hidden and every fixing was fully weather-sealed.

As part of our post-installation support, we then secured an exclusive solar feed-in tariff with a virtual battery.

We also monitored the client’s electricity usage every day for two weeks to help optimise their appliance usage with plug timers and use of our solar app. Finally, we assigned the client to one of our Monday-Sunday WhatsApp aftercare groups, should they have any questions.

Results

The homeowner was extremely satisfied with the outcome — strong year-round savings, blackout protection, full visibility of system performance and a clean installation.

With a projected six-year return on investment, the system delivers both financial and practical benefits while preparing the home for complete energy independence.
